Included with this cover letter is a
registration form
for the 2007 ASA Region 14 Nor Cal Women’s Fast Pitch Travel League and
league budget.
Please be advised that this form
and associated league entry fees are due to me by May 22,
2007. This deadline is for any teams interested in playing in the
league. All fields
have been finalized for this coming
year. On or before June 2nd, I will be mailing (and emailing)
each team a league schedule, team roster, maps and league rules. No
playing rule changes
are planned for the 2007 season.
As always, rosters are due prior to your first game (they
are to be turned in to me at the fields) and the rosters will be
available every weekend
to add players throughout the
season. There is no maximum on the number of players you
can have on your roster.
The great experiment last year of permitting teams to
sign up for single days or weekends
I’m not offering it as an option. However, if a team is
interested in participating on any single day or selective weekends,
please contact me so I
can see what we can do to
accommodate your team.
As in the past, umpire fees will be due to umpires prior
to the start of each game. Fees may vary by site, be prepared to pay
$30 to $40 per game.
I should be able to notify you
the week of league games, the exact umpire fee, as I did
last year. Players may play on any league team, as long as they have
signed an official
league roster. No protests are
allowed, game schedules may be altered by teams, as long
as all affected teams agree to the change. Teams may place up to 12
players in their
batting order, any 9 of the 12 can
play defense. All other ASA substitution and re-entry
rules are in effect for batters in the lineup.
Thank you for your interest in our 2007 league. I’m
looking forward to another fun and exciting season. Please contact me
at the numbers or
email address above if you have
any questions or problems. I look forward to seeing you
on the field on June 9th.
Sincerely, Floyd Lewis

WOMEN’S FAST PITCH LEAGUE
TO START SECOND SEASON
Pacific Grove, CA – The Pacific Coast Region of the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) has announced the formation of a women’s fast pitch summer travel league that will begin play on the June 11-12 weekend in Modesto, California. This will be the second year that the Region has presented this competitive program under the ASA’s umbrella.
Regional Director, John Miller, in announcing the region’s ongoing support for the program, discussed the need for and popularity of the league. “The public’s interest in both the success of the United States Olympic Golden Medal winning Women’s softball team and the NCAA Women’s Softball World Series has rekindled the desire for past college and travel ball players to once again hit the field,” Miller stated. “In addition to past college players, many current college players are looking for an opportunity to play during the summer to maintain their game skills.”
To accommodate the work schedule of potential players, the league competes only on weekends, playing five games per weekend at various sites in the Northern California area. In addition to the kick-off weekend in Modesto, the league will make appearances in Vacaville (June 25-26), Reno (July 9-10) and wind up in Burlingame on July 23-24. The league will be expanding this summer to accommodate the increased interest received from players. Additionally, anyone interested in forming a team to participate in the league, has until June 1 to enter.

Bassman at (605) 349-6804 (email dbassmann@smcoe.k12.ca.us) or Bill
